Bridging the Gap with Your Support

Dear Friend of Etta Projects,

Our doctor on staff, Caterine Senzano, shared recently of a graduate from our Community Health Promoters (CHP) program–one of her students–who was helping a woman through childbirth, and then recognized, based on her training, that both the woman and the baby were in crisis beyond anything treatable without a moderately equipped medical clinic. Quickly, the CHP wrapped the woman in a blanket and got help from other villagers to pull her across a river, in a determined journey to get her to the closest clinic. They were successful, and both mother & child survived, and are healthy.

This is just one example of the immeasurable impact of indigenous rural Bolivian communities having the resource of a front-line trained CHP. Our CHP training program saves lives.

Etta Projects is proud to have recently graduated 50 new CHPs from our two-year program. Each of them received bi-monthly workshops in their communities and quarterly intense two-day trainings at our Tekoati campus during this 24-month period. Even before their certificates of graduation, and receiving their fully stocked community medical kits, these village volunteers had already treated 2,757 fellow villagers, coming to them for help (even if prematurely) since no other resources were feasibly available.

Empowering rural Bolivian communities with access to basic needs so easily taken for granted in the US–like clean water and health care–also includes us building eco-composting latrines, to prevent water contamination and fend off water-borne diseases. It is all part of the holistic approach Etta Projects has honed over 20 years.

Thanks to a two-year Rotary International Grant, powered by the initial support of 13 Rotary clubs, we have been fully funded for building 150 latrines over the next two years.

Now we need your support to complement this generous Rotary gift with equal investment in our Community Health Promoters program.

Data shows that when implemented side by side, our programs have a multiplier effect… and our success in fully and sustainably supporting rural Bolivian communities is greatest when all of our programs operate in tandem.

We are deeply grateful for your donation, at any level, to help us support the hope, vision, and whole-hearted dedication of rural Bolivians in care-taking their communities. We hear their voices, and invite you to join in a collective, transformative, cross-cultural response.
