40 Girls for Etta’s 40th Birthday

Etta would be 40 this year, and I know how proud she would be of the girls’ empowerment program.

The number aren't large, but what we offer is powerful. Since 2020, 159 girls have participated in the girls' empowerment program, a safe space where they can feel heard and cultivate hope.

Through small group workshops led by Carla, our psychologist specialist, the girls are alongside their peers who learn to listen, support, and stand with one another. For girls at risk of experiencing the same violence, the same poverty, and the same unplanned pregnancies as their mothers, sisters, cousins, and neighbors.

Because life changes when someone listens.
When someone believes in you.
When you’re given the chance to grow up responsible only for yourself.
