Projects Under Development

School Gardens

In 2009 Etta Projects implemented a School Garden Project in a small Guarani community. The results from the project were so impactful that community leaders and education directors from surrounding villages requested the same project at their school. Etta Project's school gardens go beyond teaching students agriculture skills; they also provide a source for improved nutrition, income generation, community events, participatory learning, and teacher development training. Etta Projects aims to implement the garden project in 10 rural communities this year, but we cannot meet this goal without your support. If you would like to contribute to a school garden project and help improve the health, education, and nutrition for 100s of children and families please donate.

Eco Latrines for Peri-Urban Communities

The Water Filter Project ended in November, 2009 but the participants continue to work on improving their families' health and hygiene. The groups that formed from the Water Filter Project meet once a month to talk about community health issues. They recognize that one of the community's most pressing problems is caused by their unsanitary pit latrines. The latrines overflow with water and feces throughout the rainy season. Imagine walking down your street to go to work or to school knowing that the water you are walking in is from you and your neighbors' overflowing pit latrines. This is everyday living for the people in these communities and the results are devastating on their health. Diarrhea and parasites are the leading causes of illness and death in Bolivia. These women are motivated to continue to make change in their communities, and Etta Project's is committed to support them throughout their journey to improve their overall health. Now that these families are drinking safe water we look to build Eco-Latrines.  If this project interests you please donate or call 360-876-7487.
